Ben Ogilvie
Ben Ogilvie grew up skiing at Fernie Alpine Resort. In his 26-year skiing career, he has earned many accolades, including Freeskiing World Tour competitor 2010-2012, Freeride World Tour competitor 2013, Monster Enemy Lines competitor (Fernie Alpine Resort) 2013-2014 (2014 7th Place), Fernie Freestyle Ski Club 2008-2018 Coach, Head Coach Freestyle Ski Club 2015-2018.
When he’s not skiing, Ben works as a Journeyman Cabinet Maker, and enjoys biking, climbing, all sports, and building stuff!
This season Ben hopes to ski a line on the North end of Mt Hosmer that he’s had his eye on for a while!
Caleb Brown
As a true adventure seeker, Caleb is always looking for the next mission to take him out of his comfort level and push his boundaries. Skiing is his favourite way to do this. He spends most of his time in the backcountry just outside of the ski hill that raised him, Fernie Alpine Resort. His background is big mountain skiing, having competed as a top athlete in the Freeskiing World Tour from 2011-2014 and he still continues to show he can compete at that level whenever he chooses to. Lately though, he is focusing more on local projects, trying to make his mark on the endless terrain Fernie has to offer and also venturing out to the far reaches of BC in search of larger mountains, even more extreme big lines and things that have not yet been done before. You can often catch up with Caleb in the lift lines at the resort, waiting at the fence for the next piece of terrain to open, and when the time is right and the Patrol allows it, you might even be able to see his tracks above the bowls. DYLAN BAILEY
Dylan Bailey moved to Fernie from Invermere in 2018 and has been a sponsored rider at GearHub ever since!
Dylan won Master's 30-39 Cross-country Mountain Bike Nationals in 2017 and was the 2018 Master's Cross-country Marathon BC Provincial Champion.
Dylan continues to represent GearHub at a variety of bike races all season long!
This winter, Dylan is stoked to be riding a 2020 Rocky Mountain Suzi Q C70 Fatbike!
Elek Wenzlawe
Elek may be young, but this Fernie kid rips!
Elek is a member of the Fernie Freestyle Ski Club, and regularly participates in competitions.
In 2019, Elek came 2nd in the Provincial at Sunshine Village in the under 14 category, and he came in 3rd in the Jeep Junior Freeski competition at Fernie Alpine Resort in 2017.
In 2020 he will participate in competitions in Jasper, Lake Louise, Red Deer, Sunshine, and Calgary.
Alongside skiing, Elek likes to fish, bike, skateboard and wear beanies.
Jake Plant
Jake grew up in Nelson BC, skiing, mountain biking, and playing hockey. Having grown up in the Kootenays, he fell in love with extreme sports, and the creativity of both performing and capturing them.
Having never done any racing or official freestyle training, and idolizing Shane McConkey, Jake has a “just send it” approach to the mountain.

Jeffrey Holden
Jeff is a mix of big mountain culture and the arts. Jeff entered the competition world earning the title Freeride Wold Tour Champion. Video segments with MSP and TGR soon followed. Jeff began building independent Freeride events in Western Canada in 2000. 20 years and over 200 events later, his commitments extend from athlete to educational ambassador in the big mountain community. “Ride new lines, make new friends, learn something about yourself and you win”.
Jena Greaser
Jena has ranked as a professional bike race athlete in the top 10 Nationally (USA) with both cyclocross and cross country mountain biking. Jena is the reigning US Fat Biking National Champion, became a British Columbian cross-country marathon mountain bike Provincials Champion, has taken the overall win (and podiums) in several prominent international mountain bike stage races, and in her first year of racing elite enduro, qualified to partake in the Enduro World Series circuit.
In addition to racing, Jena is a certified mountain bike instructor, coaching locally for Ride Theory and Sparwood Youth Action Network.
Jena is a technically dominant rider. She loves the authentic challenge of raw, natural terrain and features. “The rootier and rockier, the better!”
Julie Bernasconi
Julie grew up in Quebec where she learned to ski in the Laurentian mountains. She became a ski instructor in her hometown St-Sauveur at 15 years old. Since then she has worked close to 20 ski seasons as an instructor, freestyle instructor, and big mountain coach!
Julie has been a ski instructor with the Fernie winter sports school since 2012. Part of her job there is being the head coach of the Fernie big mountain team, a competitive freeride program run by the winter sports school that has 25 to 30 athletes from 8 to 16 years old competing at a regional and national level.
Julie especially loves working with other female athletes and inspiring young girls to push their limits, and was lucky the past few years with the big mountain team to coach the same group of teenage girls and to watch them grow into badass skier girls!
This season Julie is training for her level 4 ski instructor exams, the highest level of ski instructor certification, which she will take in April. She is also training for certification to teach other instructors how to teach freestyle and park skiing. This winter Julie is stoked to be riding Faction Prodigy 2.0X skis.
Steve Kelly
Steve Kelly is an accomplished athlete with over 15 years of experience in the endurance mountain bike racing scene. Throughout his career, he has achieved podium results in 24 hr endurance races held in Hawaii, Texas, and Golden BC. One of the highlights of Steve's journey was his ninth-place finish at the WEMBO World Championship 24hrs in Italy in 2017, showcasing his skill and dedication on an international level.
Despite his achievements, Steve remains grounded and passionate about his sport. He finds joy in shredding the challenging single tracks in his hometown of Fernie BC, embodying the spirit of a true mountain biking enthusiast.
Nick Edwards
Nick grew up in the Australian bush, racing BMX and building dirt jumps. Over the years his passion for the outdoors and moving through nature has grown immensely, taking on many different forms. Hiking the length of New Zealand, rock climbing and competing in ultramarathons just to name a few. After moving to Fernie, bikes have once again taken the front seat. In 2023 Nick rounded out the podium in his first Bikepacking race “The Lost Elephant”. A 530km route with 9000m of climbing! Nick has big plans for 2024 with a very diverse race calendar and the urge to explore the local hills.

Andy Ward
Originally hailing from Scotland, Andy found home in the Elk Valley in 2015. That is when he discovered mountain biking. Going from a rookie mountain biker to an ultra-distance cyclist, he completed the BC Epic 1000 twice in under 3 days, and currently holds the event record for Cranbrook’s Lost Elephant Ultra.
Andy is focused on ultra-distance cycling. He has some very exciting and long routes planned across BC this summer, looking to gain further experience in hopes to eventually race the Tour Divide in the near future.
In 2024 he participated and won his first winter ultra in Manitoba, the Actifa Epica, a first stepping stone in his long-term goal to race iditarod trail invitational in Alaska.
Andy also loves tough climbs, cross country and exploring the network of backroads available on our doorstep.
