The Pionnier 104 was originally built for the tight trees of Quebec, but it’s by no means some niche ski that only shines in one arena. Designed for adventurous skiers in pursuit of powder and tight terrain, the Pionnier 104 has established itself as an intuitive, maneuverable, and remarkably versatile ski, adapting seamlessly to various turn shapes and styles.
Its relatively short sidecut radius and tapered shovel make it pretty easy to both carve and slash through tight terrain. The midsection's stiff-flexing nature and a less tapered tail provide a strong sense of security when edging, maintaining stability even during larger turns that might exceed the expected capabilities than its on-paper sidecut radius might suggest are possible.
The Pionnier 104 embodies the perfect blend of performance and versatility, pushing boundaries to deliver an exceptional skiing experience, whether in deep powder or the more technical areas of dense forests.

Poplar core: Poplar cores are sourced from sustainable forests, less than 100 km from the factory. The environmentally-friendly harvesting involves selective cutting to enhance forest regeneration, resulting in lightweight and durable skis.
Birch mounting plate: The birch reinforcement plate in the Pionnier 104 provides additional strength under the boot while minimizing the associated weight increase. Birch allows the Pionnier to combine safety, lightness, and agility, making it a reliable and playful companion on the slopes.
Carbon fibre: Perfect for high-end and touring skis, carbon fibre provides an excellent lightweight-to-stiffness ratio, ensuring lightweight ascent and solid descent performance.
Fibreglass: While fibreglass may not be as rigid as carbon fibre, it possesses greater strength. The strength lies in the fibre's ability to resist breaking under the weight of a load. That's why this fibre is the preferred choice when it comes to imparting strength and durability to skis.
Biosourced epoxy: Entropy Resins' Super Sap biosourced epoxy utilizes renewable materials, offering performance equivalent to traditional resins with reduced environmental impact.
Biosourced topsheet: The 50% biosourced topsheet, made from renewable materials and 20% recycled materials, is manufactured with castor oil, ensuring exceptional durability and waterproofing.
The Pionnier 104 boasts above-average bending stiffness, enhanced by its pronounced camber. This design facilitates easier initiation into and release from turns, providing a forgiving feel in bumps. The ski's sufficient torsional stiffness ensures stability and reliable edge-hold. The harmonious blend of these features makes the Pionnier 104 exceptionally agile and versatile, catering to a range of skiing styles and terrains.
Torsional stiffness (Nm²) : How difficult it is to flex a ski
Bending stiffness (Nm²) : How difficult is it to twist a ski
"The Pionnier 104 was originally built for the tight trees of Quebec, where it was designed and manufactured, but it’s by no means some niche ski that only shines in one arena. Its fairly short sidecut radius and tapered shovels make it pretty easy to both carve and slash through tight terrain, while its stiff-flexing midsection and less tapered tail make it feel very secure on edge — even when making much larger turns than its on-paper sidecut radius might suggest are possible. The Pionnier 104 also offers nice suspension for its weight, while not feeling like a major burden on the skin track. If you want something a bit more forgiving and fun on piste, the Pionnier 104 warrants a close look. And if you prefer a looser, surfier ride and are looking to prioritize performance in soft conditions, be sure to check out Ferreol’s new (and aptly named) Surfeur 112"
The Pionnier 104 has an average carbon footprint of 20.44 kgco2eq, which roughly corresponds to the carbon emissions produced by a small car over 108 km.
Carbon footprint composition : Materials
The strategic combination of fiberglass and carbon fiber in the Pionnier ensures high performance while minimizing its ecological footprint. The utilization of a birch mounting plate, along with a topsheet and biosourced epoxy, further reduces its environmental impact.
